Really clingy 1 year old

Is this normal?

She always just want to cuddle in and sit with me in the couch instead of playing. If I go and play with her things she will sit on my knee and cuddle in.

I don't mind but even when there's other people or other kids she doesn't go and play with them she just wants to cuddle with me.

If I leave her on the floor to go and do something or try to put her down she starts crying. She does the same if I hand her to someone else.

Even if we go out shopping and she's sitting in the trolley she's reaching out wanting picked up

Is this just a phase?

I’m no expert but yes sounds totally normal to me, within reason some children are “cuddlier” than others.
When playing on the floor my DCs would always want to be sitting on my lap instead of in their own space.
Unless you have other developmental worries, I’d say enjoy the cuddles!

Yes it's a phase that will keep coming and going. Sympathy as it's exhausting, but it will get better, and then get worse again! Our daughter is nearly 2 and it's a lot less now but still ramps up when ill etc. teething always exacerbated it too.

My anecdotal observation is that second children are more vocal and demanding, as they have to fight for parental attention. The PFBs had undivided attention, so never had to demand it emphatically.
