So I have a 14 month old son and mother saw my son had thrown his food on the floor whilst in his high chair and said ‘that’s the result of your parenting.’ and ‘what will you do if he does that in a restaurant?’

wth?? Am I over reacting to me feeling this way. I would never dream of saying that to anyone.

I'd tell her you learned your parenting from her and see what she says

That's very rude, obviously noone wants their toddler throwing food around but they need to learn how to behave while eating and learn the social norms that go along with that. That takes time and most kids do this at some stage especially if they're tired/overstimulated/under the weather etc.

Way to get a dig in, is she normally like this? Take no heed, she's very rude and that's not acceptable in public either.

Tell her you’d pick it up and pop it in her plate when she’s not looking. Cheeky cow.

Lean into it. Proudly declare 'Yes it is! We want him to be a creative! If he does it in a restaurant I'll be so proud! It takes a lot to express yourself publicly!'.

I’m glad others think this was rude too. I’m going to have a word with her I think because I’m due to be going away with her soon and my son and I don’t think I can put up with comments like this.
