My 5 month old has since about 8 weeks only ever napped for 30 mins at a time. Even in a moving pram or sling he’ll only ever sleep for that long - nothing I do will resettle him. I follow wake windows and put him down after 2 hours of being awake meaning he has 4 30 min naps a day.
sometimes the last one is at 3.30/4 and he then doesn’t seem tired at bedtime (7pm)
He can self settle to sleep and sleeps well at night (7-5.30/6 with a feed at 10pm)
Ive tried shorter and longer wake windows during the day but it doesn’t really make any difference
Is there anything else I should try or is this enough sleep so I should just roll with it?

I've heard of lots of babies only having short naps, sounds normal to me. There's only so much sleep you can get in a day and he's obviously doing very long stretches at night. You're not doing anything wrong, this is probably just the way he is.

My DS didn't have longer naps until he was 7 months old. Before that it was always 30 mins. As his wake windows got longer naturally and he dropped a nap he suddenly started doing 1 longer nap and 1 short one. I think it's just an age thing that's very normal.

I actually made a post on here about cat naps a few months ago but he just did it on his own in the end.

Thanks - did it end up a longer morning nap and a short afternoon one?

@Sunshine924 he actually changes day to day which one he does longer. If he's had a bad night the morning tends to be longer. If not it's the lunch time one. He tends to nap around 9 and 1 ish.
