Hi all.

I'm just wondering what the longest times you have breastfed for? A friend has mentioned today that she still breastfeeds her 4 year old every night before bed, just got me thinking thats all, and out of curiosity I thought I'd put it out here, to hear about people's experiences!

Annoyingly though, although I breastfed for nearly 6 years altogether, I still got breast cancer.

Sorry to hear that xxx

8? 😳 I'm sorry but that's a bit much. Even 6 is.

Bless your ignorant heart.

I did 15 years in total.

  1. She only stopped when I was heavily pregnant with number 4 and I think the milk consistency changed.

Still feeding my daughter at 28 months. I'd stop if she was ready but she isn't yet.

AegonT · 02/07/2023 13:18

3.5 years for DD1. DD2 is 2 and I think I want to stop at 2.5 years this time as I'm getting fed up of it. I had a 2 year gap of no feeding between them.

ell32 · 02/07/2023 13:22

DD 2 years 2 weeks!

DS - 11 months but he was combi-fed and just decided he didn't want it anymore☹️

tunainatin · 03/07/2023 23:01

3.5 years.

Kabbalah · 03/07/2023 23:06

12 weeks, then I went back to work. The other two were formula fed from the outset. They all grew up happy and healthy.

ATeamsvan · 04/07/2023 10:00

Did anyone else mention the health of their babies?

ATeamsvan · 04/07/2023 12:05

(As in, let's not have a bf/ff debate

Like I said, totally ignorant of the subject.

Hardly. It's just wrong. They don't need it at that age. Simple really.

I refer you to the post you've quoted.

I'm still bf my dd - she's 27months and no sign of giving up anytime soon. I fed my ds until he was 14mo and 8wks pregnant, he quickly weaned.

I feel like there is some judgement for breastfeeding a 'child' rather than baby, definitely by my inlaws and older generation in my family. They didn't really like it around 1yr and made me feel awkward, constant comments to give it up. So now they know it's going on, but don't want to know. It's like a dirty little family secret.
I love it though, not giving up & makes me determined to carry on!

Gazumper · 04/07/2023 21:13

Dc1 12 months
Dc2 13 months
Dc3 6 years!

bobby81 · 04/07/2023 21:13

DS about 9 months and DD about 3 years 9 months

Mysteriousgirl2 · 04/07/2023 21:15

13 months

15 months

27 months

First child was incredibly hard (tongue tie, excruciating pain) but it is still my proudest achievement. Breasts are shot to pieces, though now.

breadwidow · 04/07/2023 21:22

Son (eldest): til he was just over 2, weaned when I was pregnant with my daughter. I encouraged the weaning but it was Sant hard - reckon pregnancy turned the milk a bit

Daughter: til she was 2 yrs 8 months and by god I was over it, thought she would ease off but no sign, tried lots of gentle encouragement to no avail, in the end I had to simply refuse to feed her which was quite traumatic and I look back and somewhat regret it but I was also totally over breastfeeding. I returned to work when she was 6 months so think the long time of night feeding while working full time had taken its toll

Tessiebeare · 04/07/2023 21:27

4 years and 3 years 10 months but they were both down to just a quick feed at bedtime at that point and had been for a long time.

BendingSpoons · 04/07/2023 21:29

Eldest until 3yrs
Youngest is 4 and still going
They overlapped by a few weeks so it's been 7 years for me.

I hope DS will self wean but not sure he will! I think I'll have to end it soon.
