Heat rash

Does this look like heat rash to you? I’m not overly concerned as baby is completely well and it has been very warm recently but he has this rash just on his tummy area which has been there for a couple of days but at times is more red than others (I have presumed if his clothing has rubbed) just wanted to know if it looks like heat rash as that is what I have put it down to? Will get drs app Monday just to be sure

Is it rough to the touch?

Honeymaple98 · 01/07/2023 19:22

I wouldn’t say it’s overly rough but I can feel the little spots if that makes sense

Looks like it could be. In the second picture it looks like he’s wearing a vest and a fairly thick top or babygrow? If it’s very warm where you are then maybe he only needs one layer. But with a young baby I’d definitely say seek medical attention, I don’t think there’s such a thing as too cautious.

I'd say some kind of sweat rash perhaps. Or a viral rash if he's been under the weather generally?

Honeymaple98 · 01/07/2023 19:28

The second picture was yesterday - He was wearing a cotton dungaree set that day which had a vest underneath but it was cooler
he doesn’t seem under the weather and is his usual self which is why I presumed it was irritation or heat but will get him an appointment Monday if it is still there

If you think it might be irritation you could always try a bit of sudocrem on it. You might be prescribed hydrocortisone or something to clear it up. I don't suppose you've changed washing powder or anything recently?

Honeymaple98 · 01/07/2023 19:37

We tried sudocrem last night but little one won’t sleep without anything on so I think it got quickly absorbed by his sleeping bag (it’s a temp regulating one 1 tog and we monitor his temp overnight so he’s not too hot) I noticed today it was a lot more red once we got home after being out however he had been in car seat and pushchair so I presumed his clothes had rubbed more than usual making it more irritated! Not changed any washing powder no 😕

Poor thing. My son was always getting things like this - very sensitive skin. Hope it improves quickly.

Honeymaple98 · 01/07/2023 19:46

Yes I do think he’s just super sensitive. Marks really easily too even from being held bless him. He’s 18 weeks so I’m abit more relaxed now he’s out of the newborn stage but still a worry! Thanks for the help @mewkins
