Car seat following scrape

Hi,
My partner recently scraped our car when he misjudged a turning onto our driveway and hit the gatepost. Should we have replaced my daughters car seat? He was only driving around 5mph and he says he heard the car hit the post but didn’t feel any impact. I’ve looked at the manufacturer information and it states to replace following any car accident but im not sure if that even counts as a car accident or not? Any advice please? :) thank you in advance.

I personally wouldn't, no.

No

I was told by several sources (car seat salesperson, insurance company, car seat website) that the car seat would need replacing if an airbag deployed or should have deployed, or if I had concerns, but that low velocity bumps/scrapes into stationary objects don't require it to be replaced. Personally, I wouldn't replace for a scrape against a stationary object at 5mph - give it a jiggle and check you feel confident in it, still, then make your decision.

Thank you everyone, I’ll likely leave it then :) the seat seems fine.
