Did your baby skip crawling?

My baby is 8m old and not crawling which I’m not worried about. He sits unaided, rolls every which way and attempts to crawl and yells out in frustration when he can’t get the arms and legs to sync up! he can move about on his tummy quite well as we have laminate floors however as of this week he is pulling to stand - on me and on our pouffe which is a good height for him. Now all he wants to do all day long is pull up 😂 I wonder if he might skip traditional crawling all together and just wondered any other mums out there have a maybe that decides crawling wasn’t for them?

Both of mine were” bum shufflers”
They could move around easily and left both hands free!
Both walked very late though.
No pulling up at 8 months when my two were babies.

Dd2 used the laminate floor to slide on her back and roll! She crawled and walked on the day before her first birthday!

He sounds very similar to my DD who yes skipped crawling and instead walked at 9 months.

My DS wasn’t bothered about crawling. He was on his feet and taking steps at 9m. Crawling just wasn’t his cup of tea.
My other DS was a big fan and speed crawled with all 4 limbs off the floor to see the choo choos as they passed the end of the garden. Each to their own.

My DDs did a little bum shuffling then both walked somewhere between 10 months and 11 months. Crawling probably came later to imitate their cousins of same age who didn't walk until much, much later. They all find a way eventually. The cousins are very athletic now!

DD2 just got up and walked one day. DD1 called me in from the other room "mummy, xxx is walking!" and she was.

Exactly the same thing with my DD.

Pixiedust1234 · 27/06/2023 23:59

DD1 didn't crawl but bounced cross legged.
DD1 was late to walking, 16 months when others were walking at 9-12 months.
DD1 didn't walk unaided. She went straight from cruising to running (away from us whilst giggling).

DD2 was textbook for all milestones.

Mumtothreegirlies · 28/06/2023 00:03

Yes my first daughter skipped crawling and walked at 9.5 months unaided at 10 months.
she was tiny (only 14lbs) with hair to her shoulders like a bob and people through she was a dwarf

Differentusername · 28/06/2023 00:11

This sounds exactly like my eldest. He only crawled for about two weeks at nine months and then went straight to walking, holding onto something at first and then independently from 10 months.

CattingAbout · 07/12/2023 09:27

My first crawled at 10 months, my second at 5 months. One of my nieces never crawled at all. It's not a developmental milestone (unlike walking) so try not to worry OP!

WeirdPookah · 07/12/2023 11:16

My first hated tummy time with a passion.

She never bothered crawling at all.

Furniture cruised and started walking at 9.5 months, just did it one day!!

MuggleMe · 07/12/2023 11:20

My DD did cruising and then crawled after when she wanted to get between furniture. Walked at 13 months.

ecossegirl91 · 07/12/2023 13:08

Hi - just an update as baby is now 13 months!
they pulled up at 8m and cruising furniture at 9m. Crawled at 9.5 but only crawled for 5 weeks before walking at 11.5m and hasnt crawled since 😂
