Why is it it only Pampers nappies that don't leak?!

With my firstborn I only used Pampers and never had this problem. With my second, due to everything costing so much, we've tried Lidl, Aldi, Tesco and Morrisons own brands and I swear to god his nappy leaks almost every time! He does have poonami's but every single poo comes out around the top of the waistband. His wees leak less, as in not every single wee, but again atleast once a day I get a nice big wet patch. I have no other options near me, so I'm just going to suck it up and pay for Pampers again. Does anyone else have this issue? I'd much rather use a cheaper brand but they just don't hold it!

Don’t have this issue. I use a mix of aldi/Amazon/whatever is cheapest when I need it. No leaks.

But I always size up, my DD is the weight for size 3 but wears size 5 nappies- and her vests are always the next size up. Have you tried that?

TashieWoo · 26/06/2023 16:41

I’ve always used pampers and tbh I don’t think anything else matches up, I use the basic ones during the day then extra dry at night. DP and I have both got loads of coupons from joining the pampers club app and scanning the codes on the packets, there is often a deal for free nappies too.

There are often special offers at the supermarkets too, Waitrose has 3 big packs for £22 at the moment and Boots & Costco also do big boxes which are better value.

Sainsburys have been the best brand for DS2, they never leak. They are price matched with Aldi.

I think a lot of it depends on your babys size and shape, different brands suit different babies. I've looked after babies for whom pampers have leaked but aldi have worked brilliantly, it's trial and error finding a brand and size that suits your baby.

Dollmeup · 26/06/2023 16:53

It's a case of getting what you pay for I think. I used own brand when they were babies, then switched as they weren't coping with big toddler pees!

Never had an issue with leaks, but as an earlier poster said, we tend to size up and wrap her up like a little burrito.

We mainly use Aldi, but never buy premium brands

If always found only pampers are good for avoiding leaks. But other people swear on other brands. I suspect it depends on the shape of your baby's bottom - you just need to find one that works.

justme2022 · 26/06/2023 17:31

Pampers and Sainsbury's own brand are the only ones that don't leak with my 2.

BertieBotts · 26/06/2023 17:40

They are all slightly differently shaped and different kids have different shape bum/thighs/waist so they suit different brands.

A lot of the generic ones are identical to each other because they're made in the same factory.

SamanthaVimes · 26/06/2023 17:42

It must depend on the shape of the baby because I find pampers are rubbish! I usually get the Tesco own brand ones and they’re fine. I get really annoyed if they’re out of stock and I have to spend more money on nappies I like less.

BertieBotts · 26/06/2023 17:44

Leaks at the back might be to do with whether it has elastic in the waistband. Maybe check which brands do and which don't.

PurpleChrayne · 26/06/2023 17:50

ASDA own brand are the only ones that don't leak on DS.

LadyJ2023 · 26/06/2023 17:52

Twin 1 year olds and a 2 never had any problem with any nappy aldi, lidl, sainsbury, morrison whatever I get.

bexyo · 26/06/2023 18:01

I use Botox own brand and they seem fab

cupofdecaf · 27/06/2023 08:54

Cloth nappies. No poo explosions, no leaks.

Hugasauras · 27/06/2023 09:10

We've never had pee leaks with any of the supermarket brands. We have had poonami leaks but I'm pretty sure even Pampers couldn't contain some of the torrents that have come out of DD2! We do sometimes use Pampers and never notice any difference (other than the price).

We used cloth nappies for DD1 and they were great for never having poo leaks but they leaked pee so badly unless I absolutely stuffed them with boosters so she looked like the Michelin man.

Ellie1015 · 27/06/2023 09:12

Mostly pampers for first born. Second child we used Lidl, Asda, Tesco and Boots. All worked well. Occasional leak from any nappy brand but nothing regular.
