Honestly - big plastic mixing bowl filled with anything from kitchen drawers that was safe - wooden spoons, egg cups, spatulas, blah blah. She loved that kind of stuff...

lionbeast · 22/02/2008 22:28

hi habbibu, ok, well we have those

you can get sleigh bell type jingly things from ELC amonst others - my dd loves hers. Another vote for stacking cups too - and if you want to splash out we have a wooden Noah's ark with lots of animals - she loves taking them out and waving them around

Habbibu · 22/02/2008 22:38

Oh, yes, musical shaky things and stacking cups. They are also good for the bath. urrrrr - is it the M&S wooden ark? DD loves hers.

simple things like chiffon scarves and bottles filled with lentils and sequins are fun too. they dont need loads od toys. space to explore is good too

GerrardWinstanley · 22/02/2008 22:39

my 8mo currently loves anything with buttons and flaps and slidey things, especially if they make noises. This is probably her current favourite toy.

Other big favourites currently are sorting blocks and stacking cups and touchy-feely books.

And this

and obviously all the stuff she shouldn't play with like the phone, the remote control, the camera

twospecialgirls · 22/02/2008 22:40

well mine loves
the remote contole (the dvd one is her fave not to keen on the sky one)
mobile phone ( mine or dps shes not fussy)
home phone
her big sisters toys any of them as long as it causes trouble
and anything that is in a kitchen coubard she isnt allowed
that prob doesnt help much does it !!

well the ones we bought are bells and balls and stacking cups and mega blocks and a doll

GerrardWinstanley · 22/02/2008 22:42

I've been raiding the local charity shops for toys this last week (to keep at grandparents houses as they are minding her when I go back to work). You wouldn't believe what £3.50 buys you in a Help The Aged shop.

auntymandy · 22/02/2008 22:42

ds love a plastic ikea beaker!!!

twospecialgirls · 22/02/2008 22:44

GerrardWinstanley · 22/02/2008 22:47

ooooh carboots - dp will be so pleased when I suggest that to him . Then I truly will have turned into his dad . I thank you for the tip tho twospecialgirls.

ViolentFemme · 22/02/2008 22:49

Blimey our 8 mth ds loves anything he gets his hands on that is not a toy.

Just repeating the above really...

Remote control
Mobile phones
Hair dryer
Loo roll
Spectacles
Shoes and slippers
Random bits of paper
Cupboards left unintentially open
Clothes horse
Anything with a wire or lead

You'd think he didn't have toys

NoviceKnitter · 23/02/2008 08:33

lol ViolentFemme our 8mo dd is exactly the same

She also loves:

tea strainer
rolling pin
colander or anything shiny from the kitchen
the cat (esp ears and tail)
important documentation (for eating)
carpet edges

I also second the bells. We've had ours about three weeks - first week she just sucked them, now she loves to shake. She also likes demolishing block towers we've built and she loves little games with her cuddly toys. (Peekaboo and bouncy bouncy etc)

lionbeast · 24/02/2008 11:07

oh thanks for all the lovely ideas, dd is in for a treat
