Thankfully I intervened before my 3 year old proudly fed him the second half. He proudly told me that baby brother doesn't want milk anymore as he eats food now! Blush

I only left them alone for 2 minutes with baby in his bouncer and my son sat at his table eating pudding!

I hadn't thought about weaning yet but I've got a chocolate faced baby who is extra smiley and licking his lips.. not sure carrot purée will be popular after his introduction to solids 😂

Haha well that's a funny story! What a lucky baby hehe

My grandmother gave my 4 month old some battered fish from the chippy, heavily dosed with salt and vinegar. She survived.

Flashback to my mother feeding DD2, aged 7 weeks and exclusively breastfed, some of the icing from her own christening cake 😮 I could have throttled Mum with my bare hands at the time, but DD2 didn't seem to come to any harm.

I tunes around in the kitchen to find my 3 year old stuffing salted peanuts into my then 12-week old’s mouth 🙀

Saschka · 25/06/2023 17:13

My cousin gave me some chocolate buttons at Easter as she felt sorry for me having no Easter eggs. I was two months old!

DS’s first solid food was a pain au chocolate - I was eating it, he was in the sling and leaned forwards and took a massive bite. Obviously decided he was ready for solids!

Scirocco · 25/06/2023 17:14

Awww, that's a sweet story for when they're older. ♥️

Idratherbepaddleboarding · 25/06/2023 17:15

Hope you took pictures 😂.

MIL posted chocolate buttons into my 5 week old's mouth. Didn't understand my annoyance when I caught her at it. Apparently I 'need to chill'.

TinaYouFatLard · 25/06/2023 17:17

Ah I was worried this was another evil MIL thread!

my nephew’s first solid food was a rib his dad gave him at the Outback Steakhouse.

GayPareeee · 25/06/2023 17:18

DD’s first ‘real’ food was pizza express garlic bread at 4.5 months, her tinted DS was McDonalds chips, both helpfully fed to them by bigger brother
. he’d tried them both with toast at 3 months too. Weirdly, he, the only one we waited until 6 months and weaned a la Annabel Karmel is the only one with allergies

Yikes that's scary, peanuts are a choking hazard let alone for a 12 week old. The 3 year old shouldn't have been able to get hold of them either, is it supposed to be funny?

My DM did this too 😂. DS was a few months older though. I wondered what on Earth possessed her! Maybe it's a thing?!

ThePoshUns · 25/06/2023 17:21

Aww sweet story

SparklingMarkling · 25/06/2023 17:22

Ahh at least it was smooth. My eldest fed my 5 month old her first food, half a packet of beef monster munch. 😂

redspottedmug · 25/06/2023 17:50

DS had soft serve ice cream from a sundae at about 3 months courtesy of a older family member. He survived. Prefers savoury to sweet actually.

Berthatydfil · 25/06/2023 17:50

My youngest was given a quaver by his sister at about 4 months old. I turned my back and when I looked he was enthusiastically sucking on it.
Hasn't done him any harm though.

UrsulaBelle · 25/06/2023 17:50

My 2 week old DS3 was ‘fed’ some raisins by one of DS1’s 5 yo school mates. I spotted it and hoiked it out if his mouth, thought, ‘disaster averted.’ Then found the other one undigested in his nappy next day. Sigh.

mondaytosunday · 25/06/2023 18:05

I tried to keep chocolate and biscuits off my kids diet when small - time enough for them to discover the joys of sweets! Went on holiday and found my dad with my (weaned) ten month old on his lap chomping down on her (as he told me) second chocolate digestive! Face covered in it. Still one of her favourite biscuits now at 18.

DidyouNO · 25/06/2023 18:52

My four all weaned at 4 months, by the time number 3 came along I'd given up 😂. I remember walking in and the oldest was sucking some caramac and giving it to baby.

Makinglists · 25/06/2023 18:56

Ds2 chips and chocolate at a party was his first solid food - ohh well. DS1 was all handcrafted organic puree!

SunshineGlamourIfOnly · 25/06/2023 18:56

When mine were tiny it was the norm to start solids at 12 weeks. But my eldest had a taste of a liquorice allsort at about 6 weeks Blush He loved it and in fact I was an outlier at the time making him wait to 4 months before properly starting.
We did pureed food then too and i literally pureed what we had, minus the salt!
You have a lovely story to tell later ♥

ApocalypseNowt · 25/06/2023 19:06

DD2 managed to nick DD1's bun and scarf half of it before we could get to her. DD1 proclaimed she would be "sad forever" but seems to have cheered up since.

DD2's first non-milk drink was a cup of strong black coffee Blush

DD2 enjoyed a chocolate button as her first food, thanks to DD1's 'sharing'. Not even an organic chocolate button!
