Daughter's friend's dummy

Hi all,
Given its the end of the school year, I decided to let my daughter (11) invite one of her friends she met in year 7 (also 11) round for a sleepover.
I'd met the girl before and she seemed nice enough but curiously when she came round she was using a dummy the whole time! Literally stepped out of the car with one in and basically only took it out to eat. I know she has no SEN and when I asked her about it she just said she uses it at home all the time. I asked my daughter about it and she said that she thought it was a bit weird but doesn't mind.
So my question to Mumsnet is: is this common? I've personally never seen anything like it and was curious if anyone else had and whether I'm just being nosey or rightly inquisitive.
Thanks for your replies in advance,
Alexia

I have not seen it myself but, they say it takes all kinds to make a world.

Definitely not normal and will wreck her teeth, but not your problem or your place to comment.

Surely she would have some sort of speech impediment from it.
