Newborn over feeding

Is there such thing as over feeding? My 9 day old daughter is combo fed she had 3oz bottles every 3 hours and breastfed for comfort or if she's fussing for more, she's old 9 days old and cleared 5oz in one feed today, she struggles to latch onto the dummy to keep her calm in between feeds and just gets frustrated with it, if you hold of on the feed she gets very upset, she's gets milk on demand witch is fine but will over feeding cause any issues or is it safe? (She doesn't throw any milk back up)

You can overfeed with a bottle, but not with breastfeeding. HOWEVER all appetites are different. So 3 oz is too much for one baby but not enough for another. Also, growth spurts interfere with appetite and make it look different.

In conclusion: if she is clearly hungry, feed her. Keep an eye on her weight gain; as long as she's not gaining too quickly then it's all good.

If you want to continue Combi Feeding I'd talk all of this through with a BFC @thesilentonex. Have you got the BFing Helpline numbers?

Yes you absolutely can overfeed! (only know because i did it myself and at the time when the doc told me was furious) but he was correct! And it ended up making his colic sooo much worse! But also then again some babies do need more milk than others so it’s hard to judge on how much one needs!
