Cradle cap in 3 year old - help!

I was just washing my daughter’s hair and as I was using the tangle teaser with conditioner, I noticed quite a bit of what looked like dandruff in her hair. Having examined her scalp more closely, she has what looks like a lot of cradle cap all over the top part of her scalp under her hair. Can you get cradle cap treatment for three year olds? !I imagine it’s going to be hard to apply now she has long hair! 😢 Any advice would be much appreciated, thank you.

My DC had this until he was about 8. I used to massage olive oil in thoroughly then wash it out - you need lots of shampoo. It was better when his hair was shorter, if your daughter has longer hair that might be contributing. I found more regular washing helped as well.

I just used the cradle cap shampoo for babies and it still worked (my daughter had it on and off up until about age 10) combined with regular brushing it out.

Tiny bit of nizoral shampoo will sort that

Olive oil or almond oil. Massage in, leave for a while, gently comb the flakes off. Shampoo out

Agree with Smoky, though I prefer coconut oil. Just rub it in with a soft brush, and wait a couple of hours (obviously avoid the sun in that time). After 1-2 weeks it should be gone

I would use any oil in the way that you use it for a baby .if you can't get on top of it see the pharmacist for nizoral.

Use Baby Laboratorios pediatric cradle cap shampoo (you can by it on Amazon). Make sure keep using it after the cradle cap goes away (maybe an extra month or two). It's very gentle, I used on my 6 months old. For me, nothing else helped; I tried coconut oil, organic natural shampoos, all the home remedies that has been suggested. This shampoo worked in two weeks, and hasn't came back since.

Just use dentinox. Or a little bit of olive oil to soften. Once it's soft you can pick it out and wash it away. Obviously go gently - you don't want to hurt her scalp by doing ick if too much.

Hi OP I had the exact same issue with my 3 year old earlier this year (he's now 4 so definitely on the older end of the cradle cap spectrum!) and he has long wavy hair.

This stuff worked miracles- only 2-3 uses and the cradle cap was gone. And it was pretty bad, so flaky all over his head, and little chunks of hair would come out if I tried to brush it normally.

PS I think it was the accompanying comb that really helped but the solution helped to loosen the flakes first.

Bodyshop ginger shampoo was the only thing that worked for us.
