May I ask which tablet they have? Also, which apps have you found that are best for engaging with and have helped their learning?

Thanks!

Ah yes Cbeebies is a classic, can’t go wrong with that channel at all. May I ask which tablet your DC has? There’s so many about, I’m not sure which one is best.

Did you have to download Cbeebies and YT kids or did it already come installed?

Amazon fire

Happyinmyowncompany · 18/06/2023 09:30

My son has lenovo tablet for kids comes with screen protector and warranty which can be extended, however its screen is small but my son hated the big screens as he couldn't hold it and found it heavy , do not get Amazon fire kids tablet, it's bulky and slow your toddler will be frustrated and not to mention lack of storage space

Abouttimemum · 18/06/2023 09:39

We’ve had the Amazon Fire for 2 years and it’s brilliant. I accidentally smashed it once and it was replaced for free. He uses it for long car journeys and sometimes if we’re having a chill in bed on a Sunday morning. Make sure you limit use from the start and it doesn’t become an ingrained habit. It’s helped him with things like writing letters and numbers and colours etc.

I'm torn, she has a kindle fire with the kid's subscription which is fantastic as it allows almost all games/books/audio books and amazon shows so she can try lots of new things, as a toddler she had alphablock and numberblock games plus cbeebies, she's now 6 and has telling the time/times tables rockstars/numbots plus other maths games. On the other hand it can be slow, apps don't show they need updating like on an ipad and then don't work until updated, despite being downloaded not all programs will play for some reason, some games won't work offline 🤦🏼‍♀️
Im persevering for now until she has a set few games she likes then will get her an iPad and accept paying for games.
For now i take an old iPhone on journeys that has disney plus and i just keep the kindle the games.

If you have an Amazon kids account it works on my lenovo just have to download it

PinkButtercups · 18/06/2023 10:23

Amazon Fire.

I like how it's tailored to their age and you can block access to the web or certain apps etc. I know when he plays on his tablet he is not seeing anything nasty.

Thanks so much for the comments guys. A lot to think about!

Cebebbies and reading eggs/maths seeds

ivfbabymomma1 · 18/06/2023 19:05

An iPad, I did have an Amazon fire to begin with but I found it to be a waste of time (child is 4)

Happyinmyowncompany · 18/06/2023 19:38

If you are not an apple fan don't get an ipad if you are then you should have no problems, I don't have apple ID unfortunately

Kindle fire kids 10, would highley recommend

Eileen101 · 18/06/2023 19:42

We have a family tablet but the 5 year old really likes white rose maths.

Heckythump1 · 18/06/2023 19:43

My children both have lenovo tablets, the toddler has an M7, dinky little thing, but perfect size for her.
We've had an amazon fire kids tablet in the fast, but it was awful, really slowly and fustrating for the child, also doesn't have all the apps my children want (youtube kids) wouldn't touch them with a barge pole now.

Is that just a standard Amazon fire though? You can't get it Amazon kids and I don't want my children having tablets that give them internet access etc.
The Lenovo tablets are have both have Google kids space on it, and it's brilliant and free.

Crispymandm · 19/06/2023 14:17

My son has an iPad and cannot recommend Montessori pre school app enough, it is a paid subscription but well worth it in my opinion.

Happyinmyowncompany · 19/06/2023 15:35

Amazon fire kids tablets definitely do not have yt kids plus even with a lenovo m7 tablet kids there is parental control much lighter, quicker aswel and less expensive

What is Google kids space?

Leapintothelightning · 19/06/2023 16:15

We've got the Amazon fire kids one. The best apps on it are the CBeebies ones by far. I paid for a years subscription to Amazon kids+ or whatever it is and she can basically download every app in that catalogue (age limited) which I see as a flaw - none of the games are bad per se I'd just rather they were all educational!

PurpleFlower1983 · 19/06/2023 16:19

Our two have iPads and love the CBeebies apps, they’re all very good.

PickledMuffin · 19/06/2023 16:24

We have iPad and DC like Hopster. it has games, shows, books etc they really enjoy it.

PuffinsRocks · 19/06/2023 16:26

We have an ipad 5 mini secondhand from Cex, it's got the Duplo app on it which DC3 and DC 18 months both love for different reasons. I've tried other apps but that's the only one they come back to so I now pay the annual subscription to access all of it.
