Threadworms

My 6 year old is awake with a very itchy bottom. I know it's likely to be threadworms and will go and get us all some Ovex in the morning.

Does anyone have any advice for this evening of house to reduce his discomfort? He's not in any pain but it's clearly uncomfortable and very itchy. He's had a bath but won't settle.

Thank you.

Have you got sudocrem or Vaseline? A smear of that on his anus might help.

Ah bless him, I used to suffer awful from these as a kid.

No practical advice apart from just try everything to get him back to sleep - distractions from the uncomfortable-ness that lets him settle (my mum used to put on a film until I fell back to sleep to take my mind off the itchiness) Then first thing tomorrow head to the pharmacy. Thread worms are mostly active at night.

Thanks both. A bit of Vaseline helped and be finally settled. We've all now had the Ovex. Joys of parenting and all that!
