Hi so looking for some suggestions on what I am doing wrong. I am FTM and have a very happy 7.5 month old but the 5am starts are exhausting at the minute so wondering as anyone any advice please on how to try and get her to sleep till 6ish or after. She has never slept through the night and has always woken once if not twice for her bottle but gos straight back to sleep however at 5am she wakes up ready now for the day. Nap times in the day are usually up at 5 nap around 7:30 30/40 mins 10:15 nap for 1hr 30 3/3.30 nap for 30/40 mins and bed between 7-7:30. She seems very happy throughout the day. I have tried later bedtime but she seems more than ready for bed at 7 -7:30. TIA

Think I'm in the same club with a 7.5 month old who is always up at 5am. This morning it was 4.45am and I've managed to get her back to sleep in her pushchair with white noise blaring.

I think it's something they just grow out of with time, and the bright mornings probably aren't helping either.

This happened with both my kids when they were small! Regardless of earlier/later naps and bedtimes still woke up at 5! It is exhausting but it doesn't last long this bit! Before you know it they won't want to wake up for school! Try and just close your eyes when they nap even if it's for 20 mins and even if you don't fall asleep just rest.

Solidarity, dd almost 8 months has been getting up between 5-5.30 for 2 weeks now! Though I can’t complain much as she only wakes perhaps once in the night. When we had other sleep troubles we dropped down to 2 naps which helped? But am yet to crack the 5am problem!

Been up since 4 this morning 😬

Make the room as dark as you can; other than that it's something they grow out of. Looks like the amount of day sleep is about right.

Maybe when the 3rd nap is dropped it will make a difference - don't do it quickly if your children isn't ready for it though

Thank you so much for your replies & suggestions it is so reassuring especially as a FTM to hear others are going through the same thing and also that it’s a phase and not something I am doing. Hopefully we all get a bit of a later start to the morning soon until then lots of coffee it is x

Foil the windows so no light can get in.

I spoke to my health visitor about this just this week. My 15 month old has always woken between 4:30 and 5:30 for the day no matter what we do (and we have tried everything). She said unfortunately, a lot of babies are like this and it's just their natural body clock to want to wake that early. She said they will grow out of it but in the meantime try and go to bed as early as possible yourself. Some nights we are in bed at 8:30pm!!
