Taking baby to theatre?

There’s a special children’s show (CBeebies type thing) at our local theatre next week and I’d like my 3 year old to be able to go, but as it’s during the day, the only way we could go is if I take my EBF 3 month old too.

She’s generally pretty chilled out during the day, but I don’t know how she’d react to a theatre.

Has anyone had any experience of taking a baby to something like this? What do you reckon - doable or terrible idea?

Doable - but ONLY for a kids show which is likely to have many many interruptions and ONLY if the theatre has a babes in arms policy.

And you will need to leave if either of the dc start getting disruptive.

Every child in those things is disruptive! I took DD to Tweenies live (many moons ago) it was louder than a Guns & Roses gig!

It depends what it is, but the expectation at most of these shows is the kids will be on their feet singing & dancing and shouting back panto style

Check with the venue but I'm 90% sure this will be totally fine.

We saw Twirly Woos live recently (so fun!) I'm sure I saw other small babies there and the audience is not expected to sit still and keep quiet. Lots of audience participation, lots of shouting at the stage, singing etc. There wasn't a quiet moment.

Enjoy the show!

There were babies when I went to see the Twirlywoos last month. They tend to be very short shows so hopefully yours would sleep through it at the age!

I was about to say absolutely no . But this kid of show absolutely fine . You might find baby ear defenders help if it’s really loud

DD2 has been tagging along to kids theatre shows with DD1 since she was a few weeks old, she's 12m now and has gone to loads. It will be fine. Bring a small soft toy and be prepared to feed her to keep her quiet or send her to sleep.

My sister took her DS few times to adult theatre plays and there was no issue.

For a kids show it's fine.

i have also taken baby along with toddler to one of these type of shows. Baby was in a sling, mostly fed and slept. She was quieter than her brother!

Do double check the policy of the theatre, some charge even for babies in arms
