I am at a total loss. I don’t know what to do anymore. He is 4 years old and in the last 3/4 months this has become a problem and it’s only getting worse.
He has now not pooed for 17 days. The doctor has given us lactulose, did nothing. We then went on to laxido and it also did nothing. Now we are on sodium picsophate (I think that’s how it’s spelt). Anyway, that too has done nothing.
The doctor has said to give it until Friday and then he will be seeing a paediatrician. I’m beside myself, it’s destroying our family because he is so unbelievably miserable every single day.
He does have autism, he is relatively good now at talking to us and has some understanding but we are totally lost as to why he’s doing this. I want to stress that he isn’t constipated, you can see him visibly hold it in several times a day.
He isn’t potty trained but we have tried and tried him on the toilet and he is beside himself. He drinks plenty, probably doesn’t eat enough fruit and veg but he’s incredibly picky. Please tell me this will be a phase 😩 I love him dearly but I can’t take this misery anymore.
