Baby is 1 year old and has been very constipated since he started cows milk almost 3 weeks ago. He’s on daily Lactulose but it’s not really helping. I’m considering switching the cows milk to goats milk, has anyone tried it? Did it help with constaipation?

@TwinMummaX Hi switching to goat’s milk was the best thing I’ve ever done! He was really constipated and GP just said to continue with Lactulose as it takes a while for the body to get used to cow’s milk but after he’d been constipated for almost 3 weeks (it was literally a hard ball that came out daily and he cried every time he poo’d sorry TMI) I spoke to another GP who thoroughly went through everything and prescribed Docusate Sodium 1.25ml 3 times a day for maximum a week. He said it’ll take 2-3 days to start working and he should start getting normal bowel movements which he did after 2-3 days, then you slowly reduce the dose and I stopped it after 6 days. GP said you can have old poo inside you for weeks/months and 6 after stopping Docusate he literally had 7-8 bowel movements in one day!! OMG so much poo came out it was unbelievable!
He has not had cow’s milk, Lactulose or Docusate sodium again.

Try goat’s milk and see how you get on. All the best 👍🏻

@K2012 there was no need for goats milk, the following day he pooed 4x times! His bowels have been fine since then
