Baby wont sleep in cot help!

My baby is 11 months and has never got on well with sleeping in her cot. Since she’s been a baby she has always slept with me as I gave up trying to get her in her own cot, but now I regret it so much! Recently as she’s nearly turning 1 I know I need to get her into the cot but I have tried everything and literally nothing works! She is formula fed and has a bottle before bed and she normally sleeps through but if I do end up getting her to settle in the cot she will wake up a hour later and not settle back down and be screaming. I have tried to change her bedtime routine, feed her milk and put her in there when she’s asleep, I even got in there with her once to try and settle her😂but she will wake up straight away and realise she is in the cot and relies on me massively to settle her. Does anyone have any tips on how I can get her into her cot and for her to start trying to settle herself, because at this point I’m willing to try anything!

Would she be better going on a single mattress on the floor ? It might be the bars she doesn’t like.

Get a toddler/ floor bed? Even if you get her in a cot now it’ll only be a few months before you have to move her out into a bed anyway! If she’s anything like my child, she’ll jump out of the cot as soon as she’s physically able to!

We didn't start trying till later than you but with our kids getting a new bed and bedding and making a thing of it was the only thing that worked. (Between 18 and 30 months.) they were all cot refusers but loved getting a new bed.

You say you know you need to get her into the cot, but do you really need to? Obviously make changes if it’s not working for you, but if you are happy with the arrangement then it’s fine to continue.

I think at around 9 months or so we attached the cot with the side down to our bed as we’d had a hard time getting DS to settle in the cot ever since we moved from the next to me. This meant that we were still bedsharing but he had his own space and I could move more comfortably.

At 15ish months we moved him to a single bed in his room, I get in with him to settle to sleep. Then he usually then comes into our room at some point but lately we have had an occasional full night in his room. DS is 21 months now, and 99% of the time he is in our bed by 3am, as he is in a single, he just gets up and comes to our room himself.

We are happy with the set up and it works well for us, my top tip would be to get a bigger bed, we’ve had a super king for 6 months now asked it is sensational!

They’re only little once and it’s not worth the stress for either of you imo. Our little one is still in our bed at 21 months old 🥰

Montessori floor bed - I sleep with him as he still needs settling at times (23 months).
