My STBX has gone on holiday on his own for a week. Our son who is 7 years old has been so sad about it saying he's going away for so long. How on earth is he going to cope when we break up properly in a year? We are waiting until then because child care costs will reduce when youngest goes to school. We had planned for husband to have them EOW plus one week day night per week.
I feel like if we split custody 50/50 it would be so disruptive for him to live like that. Plus I don't think I would be able to afford my own place without the child maintenance of them being mainly with me. Also I think I'm better at day to day caring for them. I'll keep on top of their homework and deal with their emotional needs better.
How did your similar aged kids get on with not seeing their dad as much when you split? I'm absolutely dreading how he will cope. He is so sensitive. I hate that this is happening. It's my husband who wants us to break up.
