Did your baby dislike the pram?

My DD is 9 weeks old and we went out into town today and she basically cried the whole time. She was hungry and had a dirty nappy at one point, but after I'd sorted those she cried as soon as I put her back down into the pram. When I got her out and she could see me she was happy. Also when we got home and I was talking to her she was smiling at me and happy too!
I'm wondering if she will be happier once she's moved into the pushchair and she can see me and her dad and what's going on around her?

My four month old doesn’t love the pram, sometimes screams blue murder if I have to take her out for the day and she’s in the pram a while. I tend to use the car seat attachment more often than not as she prefers that. Could you do that if you’re just dodging around and it’s only for short periods.

Counting down the days until she’s got good enough head control to switch to the push chair!

Yes swapped to the chair at that point, reclined as much as poss and with an insert to make it snug

Yea my boy hated it in the bassinet, he couldn’t see anything, so I moved him up to the seat attachment asap (I think around three ish months?) and just had it reclined right back. He’s still super nosey now and has terrible fomo 🤣

Bless her, she's only tiny. Sounds to me like she wanted Mummy and nothing else would do.

Sight at 9 weeks is still developing, so it's totally possible that she couldn't see you when she was in the pram.

Just give it time. Sometimes you just can't win with a tiny baby like that.

Yes, mine developed serious pram rage during his third month. I ended up using the carrier most of the time as it was too stressful. Then I changed to the pushchair at 4.5 months and it was a slight improvement but still very hit and miss. Then he hit 5 months and suddenly is totally fine and is sitting happily in it? I'm making the most of it whilst I can but expecting it not to last 😂i think it was a developmental thing though as coincided with developing a lot of skills all at once. My advice would be to get a carrier for now and keep trying!

WhatNoRaisins · 09/06/2023 19:14

It's pretty common and I've never know anyone to manage with a lie flat bassinet pram until 6 months to be honest. I ended up using a carrier for this reason.

My now 3 year old hated the pram and car seat, basically anything that confined or restricted her (including shopping trolleys), pretty much since birth. She's better with the car seat now and the pram isn't a problem as she doesn't use it anymore! But when we were still using it, a lot of bribery was involved.

My DD was same at same age. At 13/14 weeks I moved her in to the push chair part and she was much better, still not great for long periods but a lot better XX

Summerdayz530 · 09/06/2023 20:27

Mine doesn’t like the pushchair much either. A bit better now he is forward facing. I tend to wear him as it’s easier than having to carry him

Older mum here as my youngest is 11 YO. But my kids were soooo inquisitive so I'd say if they're ready for a pram type Setting then go for it, see how it goes! You can always change them back ... they're sponges and learning alll about the world!
