May be its nothing and I am overthinking this but I feel my 7yo DD needs to harden up a bit. She doesn't have any issues thankfully whatsoever but at times she is overly nice and caring to other kids and would let other kids take a lead even if she is better than them whether its school activities or sports.
For example, the other day she told me that she finished her spelling class test 'super quick' and then 'helped her friends out'. when we saw her result she got half of them wrong. I asked her didnt you recheck (she knew those words as we practiced multiple times) and her response was 'i finished mine super quick because my friends were asking for help'. Same thing in her football class the other day where she had the ball and was open and was running with ball, one of the team shouted from behind her to pass the ball and instead of moving forward with the ball she stopped and after a brief pause, passed the ball to that kid.
Don't get me wrong, I don't care about the outcomes in either of the examples I shared above, its more about her reactions in that I want her to improve and be a bit more assertive as and when needed. I love that she is caring and nice to others but at some point one has to compete.
Any advise from anyone who has gone through (or going through) similar experience? TIA!
