Crib and pram recommendations

Hi All!

I’m pregnant with my second and curious to hear recommendations on cribs and prams. This time, I don’t give a hoot about having “the best” 😳

We used and still have a bugaboo chameleon, but it’s tatty, he’s 3 and the bassinet grew mould in the loft so I binned it. What are some cheap ish prams of similar sturdiness, but preferably more compact? The bugaboos are meant to last until age 4 and until a few months ago mine was still using it, but they’re huge and I’d like something more compact from birth to toddler. My son uses his scooter or hike when we go out now, and will he almost 4 when baby arrives, I’m guessing there’s no point looking at double buggies? Unless my son decides he wants to be in it too, since baby is.

As for cribs, we bought a Snuzkot for my first which he never slept in. He hated it, so we co slept from 3 weeks and still do to this day. I intend to change this soon, and I’d prefer not to co sleep with the new baby as I’ve got the fear now over the “what ifs.” I’d like it to meet all the EU safety regs etc and be bedside.

Has anyone got any recommendations?

I LOVED my Hauck prams.

Cheap, cheerful, don't care if they get broken (they never do - baggage handlers do your worst!), easiest prams to steer, wheels are always better than other prams I find. Basically built like tanks, not the most comfortable but we just bought nice pram liners and also no nice finishes on them.

DD1 hated the crib, ended up using a sleepyhead until she was two.

DD2 loved her next to me crib, we used it as standalone rather than attached to the bed, of course though as standard she wouldn't go in it for the first month and was in a moses basket, but mostly sleeping on us in shifts lol

Buggy wise, is there a John Lewis or similar near you where you can go and look at some?

I didn’t buy either - didn’t need them! Sling and bed shared.

contact your sling library for a sling - don’t buy one the crappy baby bjorn ones are they are not hip friendly for baby or ergonomic for you

The bugaboo dragonfly looks fab. I also highly recommend the tutti bambini cozee XL. It starts as a next 2 me/travel crib but converts in to a proper cot and then a junior bed etc etc. really good size and sturdy x
