Nuby Rapid Cool

I started formula feeding when my little girl was 2 weeks old. She's now8 weeks and I'm getting less and less confident when feeding outside the house.

We currently use a thermos flask and take little containers of formula powder. This is fine if I am in a cafe/restaurant and can get a jug of cold water to cool the bottle.

If I'm out with no place to get cold water I panic, especially if I can't pre empt a feed

I am considering the Nuby Rapid Cool. Not putting formula in it so no need to sterilise as often but instead uIsing for the water. So measure water from flask into baby bottle, transfer all but a hot shot into Rapid cool to get right temperature.

Who uses one and are they worth it? Think will be more cost effective than bottles of pre made formula

Have it and love it. Couldn’t be without it! It’s also not that much of a pain to sterilise either - we use it for practically every feed even in the home.

@ecossegirl91 we have a perfect prep for home. Do you put the formula powder in or just water? Assume it put formula in you have to sterilise after every feed.

Have you had one from day 1?

Hi I used the rapid cool and loved it. However I'm not sure why you're thinking of just putting the water in? As that'll will cool the water but then won't be hot for the powder? I bought 2 or 3 of them so I could rotate them. Put the hot water in, added the powder and then it was ready within a minute , much quicker than they said!

We also use it and love it! We use it for pretty much every feed. We also put the water and powder in it, it’s easy to sterilise with Milton tablets. I would say it’s one of our best baby buys!

JB2021 · 01/06/2023 07:53

@Mummyboy1 measure water into baby bottle, leave a hot shot in, transfer rest to Nuby, formula in baby bottle with hot shot, get water to temperature with nuby.

Thinking of this way as when out for full day can use multiple times

@Nancy155 we are the same, use it alongside the Milton and couldn’t be without it now!

@JB2021 ah ok we got this as an alternative to the prep. Yes so I do sterilise after each feed as I measure the water out, pop into the nuby and then add my scoops then pour back into the bottle once ready. I have seen the hack you are referencing tho on tik tok where you essentially use it as a portable prep machine and only use it for the hot water.

It's the waiting for formula to cool down when out and if nowhere for water I just find this quite stressful/it puts me on edge.

Ignoring using it at home, do you think it's worth it for when out and about

Yes absolutely. I’ve used it on flights and when out and about. It’s a great gadget.

JB2021 · 01/06/2023 08:43

@ecossegirl91 do you have to sterilise after every use?

@JB2021 well if you are planning on using it like how you mention with only hot water then no. If you want to use it like me where you put formula in then yes sterilise after each use.

Pizzaandsushi · 01/06/2023 11:23

We have 3! Love them. We only add water, let it cool and add it to the formula as my baby has cmpa and the special formula requires warm sterile water not boiling so yes you can use it how you suggested but leave a little bit of boiling water in the bottle with the formula before adding the cooled down water from the rapid cool. That way you don’t have to sterilise the rapid cool but you might have to wait a little longer for the bottle to cool down and check its not too hot. I think most people use 1-1.5 ounces of boiling as the “hot shot” before topping up with the cooler water

Why don't you buy another thermos and keep ice cold water in it ?? That way you can cool down feeds? I also use the Tommee tippee portable thermos and bottle/food water. I use this to heat up or cool down feeds. Usually I refrigerate feeds of taking out then warm then using this. Carry them around in a cool bag with ice packs. X

If formula feeding when you have a thermos flask why not let water cool for the time on whatever formula you are using then store in flask to keep at that temperature so it’s ready always at correct temp? I’ve never done it as I breastfeed but just a thought save money !

Mummy2823 · 06/09/2023 15:00

I wouldn't be without my rapid cool. Use it for every feed weather in the hour or out. It's been a life saver. I use it just for the water and leave a hot shot in the bottle. #1 baby buy for us!

Helena1212 · 27/01/2025 21:08

Hello can you use the nuby rapid cool for 3 ounce feeds?

Thank you

You need hot water to kill bacteria on the formula

Heidi2018 · 27/01/2025 21:12

I have one for out and about. It's brilliant. I use it the way you are suggesting. You can only use it once every 3 hours as it needs to cool down between uses. Well worth it.
