Big cot tips

My next to me crib is honestly the most noisiest thing ever... It creaks all night long every time my DS moves. He is 6 months now and time to transition to a big cot as he is wanting to roll into different positions.

Has anyone tried to create a cosleeper by putting big cot next to the bed? If so any ideas on how to do this safely?

My DS is not ready to be left in his own room, nor am I because he needs constant resettling and reassurance that I'm there such as face stroking, kisses etc so he will fall back asleep. I can't wait for the day he puts his own dummy back in!!! Obviously with the bars on a cot I'm not able to do this without my hand getting stuck.

With my first I was in the spare room with her co sleeping and we had a cot bed which on its lowest setting was the same height as the single bed I was in, so for a bit we had them next to each other without the side on and I would scooch her over to the cot bed bit when she was asleep etc and then I could still put my hand on her if she needed patting etc. It worked for a bit

I bought the cheap IKEA Sniglar cot, made it up without one long side and fixed it to our bed. Loved it. Google Ikea Sniglar sidecar or cosleeper for pics and tips.

Ok thanks I have a cotbed which is huge and won't leave much room in my bedroom but can't afford to buy anything else!!

Yes, bonus was that it was a fab cosleeper from birth and I just put the fourth side back on when he started to kneel up. Didn't have to buy another bed.
