5 week boy old nappy changing- bits issue

Hi there,
I have a 5 week old, 2nd boy but new baby has a hydrocele on his right side. Anyway means there is lots of area for poo to hide. When cleaning him a few times he has kicked out and moved and I feel like I've pushed on his scrotum too hard instead of very gently as I was trying to do. He hasn't cried or anything. Do you think I could have hurt him or damaged anything? I need to change my technique but also trying to keep hands clean 🙈

As for the hands, you wash them afterwards anyway?
