Is it normal to kiss my baby so much?

I kiss my baby constantly.

She's just so kissable. I can't help but continuously cuddle and kiss her little face.

In fact I just had to sneak into her nursery to give her a little kiss before I got ready for bed.

I honestly think I must kiss her 1000 x a day 😂😂😂😂

I was hanging out with some mum friends the other day and I noticed none of them kiss their babies ... at least no where near as much as I do!

Do you kiss your baby often? If so how often?

Am I normal? Haha!

Yes - so normal and part of our biology! It's so you catch your babies germs to produce antibodies that you pass along via breast milk! It doesn't matter if you bf or not. It also encourages neural and emotional development and bonding. It's lovely!

I kissed my neighbours puppy today, kiss your baby as much as you want

I didn't kiss them excessively but instead stroked their head. Still do it now much to dd's amusement who is almost as tall as meSmile

I'm glad you said this. When my eldest was born a "friend" made a snidey comment that I kissed him lots. He had the most beautiful droopy chops! She didn't kiss hers hardly at all that I remember. Didn't stop me though thankfully, but it did mean I was very self conscious in front of her. Of all the things to say to a new mum I thought this was odd and a little bit mean.

RaisinGhost · 27/05/2023 23:26

I don't kiss my kids much, not sure why, I think because I've always got a lot of cold sores, I've never got in to the habit of kissing anyone. But I wouldn't think it's weird if I saw you doing it.

PurpleChrayne · 27/05/2023 23:31

It's biological? Sniffing and smelling them allows us to "sample" any pathogens on them and tailor our milk (if BFing) to fight them off.

ourflagmeansdeath · 27/05/2023 23:31

This is so sweet, of course it is ❤

PurpleChrayne · 27/05/2023 23:32

That came across as rude due to my inability to use punctuation correctly!

Ineedwinenow · 27/05/2023 23:35

I kiss my dog a million times a day and tell her I love a million times too so there’s absolutely nothing wrong kissing your baby! Dogs and babies are so kissable and squidy 😍

Cocoalover · 27/05/2023 23:41

I still kiss my son now, and he's almost 10. It's so hard not to when you love them so much! He's the most affectionate little boy! Probably because of all the kisses and hugs 😄

78Summer · 27/05/2023 23:43

So lovely. Kiss away!

Simianwalk · 27/05/2023 23:44

I used to kiss my babies all the time.DS1 told me last week that am allowed a kiss a every 2 weeks. Get them in when you can!

YRGAM · 28/05/2023 06:33

My boy's 3 and I still kiss the top of his head about 100 times a day

AmazingBouncingFerret · 28/05/2023 07:37

Kiss your child as much as you can whilst you can and normalise it!
My eldest is 17 this year, if I’m lucky I manage a sneaky peck to the top of his mullet head when he happens to be sat on the floor!

if you are truly lucky you’ll be blessed to be the recipient of an all encompassing hug and top of the head or cheek kiss from your teenager, admittedly it’s usually when he wants something but it’s worth it!

PenelopeTheShroudWeaver · 28/05/2023 07:42

I still kiss my 12 year old DD as often as she'll let me

Enjoy kissing your cuddly little baby OP!

JC89 · 28/05/2023 07:45

Perfectly normal, and just wait until they start to kiss you back! 🥰 Or pretend they're going to kiss you then give you a raspberry instead...

ellesbellesxxx · 28/05/2023 07:59

I kiss my six year olds as much as they let me (I sometimes have to ask my son if I am allowed) but when they were babies and toddlers my goodness yes, constantly 💋

VintageThoughts · 28/05/2023 08:49

Yes I used to. I now have very cuddly and affectionate 17 and 19 year olds. They don't kiss me anymore but they love a cuddle and for me to kiss them.

Not 1000 times a day any more though.

Snoopsnoggysnog · 28/05/2023 08:52

I have two young teens and I still kiss them loads. 🥰🥰

Redebs · 28/05/2023 08:58

I'm reading this, thinking awwwww.. It's so wonderful to kiss and snuggle babies and children...

Then someone says they do it to their dog and it makes me ewww!

Starsnspikes · 28/05/2023 21:37

Same here. Also smelling her head...I do that a million times too. I wish I could bottle it. I honestly think I could just kiss her whole face off sometimes!

Olios · 30/05/2023 16:45

The same. Sometimes I just leave my lips on her little head whilst I hold her or she sits on my lap playing. Then I want to gobble her up. So cute!
