My toddler has broken her leg :(

My poor daughter isn’t even 2 yet and today she fractured her tibia at the playground. I was right there supervising and it still happened so quickly. She is in a full leg cast which we’ve been told she will need to keep on for 4-12 weeks. They are confident it will heal well and shouldn’t be any long term damage but I’m just so sad and worried. I keep having these intrusive thoughts that she will be in the tiny minority that have complications and won’t walk again. I feel like a terrible mother. I feel terrible that she will be stuck in a cast all summer while her friends are running around having fun. She is so fed up already and it’s only day 1.

If anyone has gone through the same I’d appreciate some positive stories please 😥

Definitely not the same thing but my little boy had his leg amputated at 19 months old and was stuck in a cast for 6 weeks. It was awful at first but he soon got used to it once he realised it wasn't coming off for a few weeks - he soon found his own way of being mobile and joining it with friends. If she'll crawl around then just put knee pads on her so her other knee doesn't get sore and she'll be fine! Don't feel guilty ❤️
