Teething nappies

My 18 month old has decided to cut all his canines and molars at once and is having some pretty runny nappies.

I got called by nursery yesterday as he’d done 2 bad poos in one day which was over their threshold. He’s totally fine in himself other than the runny acid nappies and nuclear nappy rash which seems to come with it.

is there any way of “drying him up”. We are slathering him in nappy cream at every change which is helping the rash but any advise for firming up his nappy’s would be really appreciated!

Absolutely nothing worked for DS unfortunately until the teeth came in and his nappies returned to normal.

They really are awful but sadly there's not much you can do. Although someone will be along to tell you in a minute that there is according to the NHS no such thing as a teething nappy...

@MuffinToSeeHere im expecting to be told that teething nappy doesn’t exist. I probably would have said it too as my first didn’t get it so bad - just a rashy cheek and a bit grumpy or maybe he just teethed in a less extreme way.

ds2 has gone nearly 10 months with only 6 teeth. In the last 6 weeks he’s now got everything except 3 canines which are pushing up right now and 2 molars which you can already see. 🤦‍♀️

He’s so sore and raw with the nappy rash we can’t even get him in the bath or wipe him down without him screaming blue murder. Plus being sent home from nursery for teething when I know he’s not ill is so frustrating!

Oh teething nappies absolutely do exist and I don’t care what people say.

3 kids and all of them had it. No help I’m afraid, we just pushed through it till they went back to normal. Actually- there’s a cream in a yellow tube beginning with M that was the best nappy rash cream I’ve ever used. It’s messy tho and stains- be prepared to get it on quick then close the nappy up and wash hands x

Metanium is the cream. Magic stuff!

Metanium! It's magic in a tube!

I’d forgotten about metanium! Evil smelling stuff 😂.
ds 2 has very rarely had nappy rash unlike his brother who was a nightmare for it. I might have to nip out for some today.

is there anything I can feed him that might be a little more erm “binding?”

Mine was the same. Doc said to use paracetamol as needed for weeks as needed to reduce DC discomfort. I hope those teeth come through asap!

what did you teething nappies look like? Sons are mucusy… and going 4/5 times a day and wondering if it’s his cmpa coming back or teething. We can see 2 small bits in gum where it’s a bit broken but then he’s also at times had a bit of a rash that he had with cmpa
