Nappies Recommendations

Clueless FTM here, looking for help!

My newborn is currently 4kg and wearing size 2 nappies. We’ve tried Aldi which were good, but we’ve run out and there is no Aldi within a couple of hours of where we live (the ones we had came back from a trip away). I ordered Mama Bear from Amazon (which seem pretty good so far) and paid £11.52 for 168 nappies, but they’ve increased the price overnight to £23.20 😱

I’ve only got the option of Tesco, Boots, Superdrug and Co-op locally, and online retailers to buy from. A local store stock Sainsbury’s but they’re twice the price of buying from Sainsbury’s, which we don’t have anywhere near us. With that in mind, what nappies would Mumsnet-ers recommend please?

Personally only buy pampers as they’re the only ones that don’t leak with my son. But I tend to buy bulk when they are on offer.

Pampers, no leaks and great sizing for all of my three.

Fred and Flo from Tesco have been the best ones for DD so far. We've tried Sainsbury's, pampers, Morrisons, Aldi and Lidl nappies but keep going back to the Tesco ones

Tesco are great for me at the moment, I think with my first I switched to pampers at a bigger size when they started to leak

We love Pura nappies. You can buy online from their website. They also offer a trial pack.

Bigglebiggle · 24/05/2023 20:56

I recommend getting a pack from every store nearest to you and trying them to see what suits.

Everyone I know uses different brand, one friend prefers pampers but they give My DD a Nappy rash, so we've always used morrisons, another friend doesn't like morrisons as they leak so use tesco, I found that sainsbury's leak....

Boots own were my favourite when ds was that age, switched to Tesco when he got bigger. Like pp has said though probably need to try a few to see what suits, for example, we absolutely could not use pampers as they leaked so badly, and as you can see from this thread that's obviously not the case for everyone.

Might be worth mentioning though that we did start off with the Aldi mamia which were great, but it was really difficult to get to an Aldi and I found the boots ones to be the closest match.

Bobcat54 · 24/05/2023 21:04

I'm on number 3 and they have all suited different brands I'm afraid 😂 it's trial and error!

raffika · 25/05/2023 20:50

Thanks everyone - I will try your suggestions and see what suits :)

You can buy Aldi Mamia on Amazon!

I liked the boots new born ones.

Changed to cheap Morrisons when he was older for the day and treated him to a pampers overnight.

Honestly with newborns I don’t think it matters too much, you change them so often that the nappy isn’t likely to get too full and leak.
