Newborn shoot for 2nd baby…..

We had a newborn photo shoot with our first baby and it wasn’t cheap, we got 5 photos to keep from the 100ish she took.
We are due our second baby and I’ve been looking into this again with different photographers and it’s just so so expensive- £350 on average for the pics to be taken and then you get 5 images (seems to be the cheapest package). If I got all 100 then maybe I’d bite the bullet but it’s really hard to pick just 5 when looking through.
Anyway, cost of living, one child already, we just can’t afford to do it. So we haven’t booked anything. A friend just recently had their second and had a newborn shoot and made a comment that you just have to so you have those memories (her pics looked amazing). I feel guilty for not doing it with second child and that we will regret it as we won’t have those captured professional memories. I never do anything with my phone pics….probs should.
Am I being silly/sensitive?! Or do I book something and just use what little savings I have left

I'm sure you can get it done cheaper. Do you have any friends or family who are handy with a camera? Or a student looking for models to practice on? I honestly love the informal snaps we took on the early baby days, on our phones, and personally think staged photos are a bit meh - but as I say, think about how you can make it more affordable.

I felt like this. Wanted it for my DD who was born in July 2020, but covid meant they couldn't be done.

In hindsight I don't feel like we missed out. I'm considering doing a photoshoot for her third birthday. Just become a single parent so it will be me and her forever now, and I'd like some nice photos of us together. But not bothered about professional tiny baby ones.

Just take some photos and print them out. My kids now 10 and 14, no regrets at lack of a formal shoot, hundreds of pics from that age

I think personal, unprofessional pics are waaaaY better. And videos!

You could even set up your own "shoot" with props- phone cameras are so good these days. We have some amazing ones using portrait mode. X

We all do loads of things for our PFBs that we realise in hindsight were pointless and expensive and don't repeat for subsequent children. You really don't have to feel obliged to do this photoshoot thing again.
