Hi. I am first time mom and i am really worried about my toddler who doesn't point. But he bring me his toys, books and any new interesting things to share with me. He was used like 10 word at 22 month but within months he is speaking 100s of words & understand all the instructions. He copy every word we day he even start communication like he says Go sky ( going out) or eat if he wants to eat and so on. He even tells all the colour and ABC's words with correct names of names given he made remarkable progress in a month. But still doesn't point. I am really worried about autism because he flap his hands and spins things like crazy. Anyone can help? I talked to gp she said he is very young and referred to speech and language therapist. We are waiting for face to face appointment.

Ok so if you're specifically about ASD you have a few options. You could wait for the SLT appointment to come through, you could ask the GP for a referral for assessment or you could do the Ages & Stages and MChat at home, see what they say and see if you want to push for assessment or you want to adopt the wait and see approach.

Just wanted to say I went through the same, my boy had such a wide vocabulary he didn't felt the need to point. Started to point at 21 almost 22m.
