Any advice on getting a babysitter

Me and DH would like to go out once a month or ever other month.
We have no family nearby who could look after our nearly 2 year old when we're out. We are considering getting a babysitter, but where do we start? We asked at our nursery workers if anyone is interested, but unfortunately they are not allowed to babysit at children's homes.
What websites are reliable and how do you get them get the child and sitter to know each other? Do you have a few afternoons/ evenings together first?
Has the baby already be asleep when the babysitter starts work? Our little one doesn't go to bed until after 9 pm and we were thinking of going out e.g. 6pm -10pm. Is this viable?

There used to be childcare.Co.uk

Also Nextdoor is a good website for finding local people looking for work. Do check references etc.

Does your little one go to nursery/pre school? Sometimes the workers there will do evening work

Sitters maybe? A relative works for them. They are vetted and police checked etc
After 9pm is very late for a 2 year old to go to bed - it may put off some sitters and that may impact getting the same sitters.

Sitters.co.uk

They've always been really reliable and they're all childcare professionals.

Did you read the op?

Thanks for recommending Sitters, I've just been to their website and registered, however I'm really confused how it works. It says you can pick your top 3 sitters, but when you want to place your booking it's the system that allocates you one and you can't choose between your top 3?
I'm looking for having one or two babysitters who we can develop relationship and trust with, not a new person every time. Would that be not possible on Sitters?

Yes it is possible. Once you've had a sitter, you can ask for the same person again.
