8 month old suddenly a fussy eater?!?

My nearly 8 month old was always good with food - he’s been having a mix of purées and finger food for a couple of months now.

He loves porridge in the morning and used to give any finger food a go. He’s never been very good at keeping food in his mouth and will spit out a lot of the finger food.

This last week he will still eat his porridge in the morning but at lunch and dinner he just spits out what hes given to try and gets upset. He will eat yoghurt and some sweet things but anything else he’ll just cry at unless he’s really in the mood.

He started off as 91st percentile but has dropped and dropped and is now below the 50th so I think I get a little paranoid about his eating. Has anyone got any advice please?

Are you keeping up with the recommended number of milk feeds? Or still feeding on demand if breastfeeding? He should still be getting most of his nutrition from milk at this age.

Could he be teething @Shezz95?

Shezz95 · 17/05/2023 21:32

@Batbatbatty he has 3x 8oz bottles in the day and one at night - I’ve just dropped a bottle as he was leaving 4ozs in his daytime feeds or refusing one completely

@SiouxsieSiouxStiletto possibly! I have been blaming teething for the dribbling, rosy cheeks and general fussiness for about 3 months now though and he still has no teeth lol

Ok so I'd try some Calpol to see if it is teething, maybe half an hour before his breakfast?
