Formula causing constipation?

My LO is 4 weeks old and since the meconium passed he just barely does a dirty nappy! He's formula fed and goes about 4/5 days every time. Today is day 5 and he's really straining and trying but nothing! Also off his milk I guess because he has no room for it!

Any tips please? I've done bicycle legs, warm bath etc but nothing seems to help. Should I try a change formula? He's currently on cow and gate.

Going to speak to a doctor later, just after any advice?

Yes, it could be. When DD switched to formula after being breastfed she had horrendous constipation. Can you contact your health visitor? Mine was really helpful.

Mine didn’t get constipation regularly (we are on hipp organic) but I’ve found that when constipation did arise using some ready made formula helped a lot! I use one carton a day.

We found changing formula (in our case Aptimal to Kendamil) helped although we didn’t do it until 12 weeks. You baby’s digestive system could also just be still developing.

At 4 weeks my DD would only poop every 3-5 days and most of them resulted from putting her in the bouncer (Baby Bjorn type). I tried all the other things but only the bouncer worked - maybe the angle?
