Disastrous birthday memories?

We had the most disastrous birthday for my 11yo DS a few years ago and I wondered if anyone could top it?

Plan was for DS to play in his team's football match in the morning, a lazy lunch, then DS and some friends to a trampoline park, pizza and sleepover.

I got a call as DS was unwrapping presents - my mum had died that morning. Tried to hold it together, decided we'd go ahead with our plans and try to power through so as not to completely spoil his birthday.

So DS went with DH to the football match, but they arrived back home 30 mins later, DS with a massive goose-egg on his head - he'd whacked it on the goal post. DS ended up in A&E with concussion. While there, he had a dizzy spell, fell of his chair in the waiting room, bruised his jaw and knocked a tooth out.

Trampoline party and sleepover cancelled due to concussion and we all spent most of the day either in tears or in hospital...

He's 14 now and that birthday is the stuff of legend. Mum's impeccable timing in particular - as DS had said, at least he'll never forget when gran died 😵‍💫.

Anyone got some funnier or worse birthday stories??

At DS1’s 3rd birthday party, he managed to give chicken pox to all the children in our friendship group and one adult (who was really unwell and still bears the facial scars…).
DS2 was so unwell with it he was hospitalised.
I only noticed the spots when we got home.

The one where DS1 (whose birthday it was) hit DS2 with a swingball bat (the birthday present). DS2 and I spent hours in hospital getting his lip
stitched. In the meantime, DH took DS1 for a bike ride, crashed into him, went over the handlebars and broke his wrist (DH’s wrist). So they went to the adult hospital. Neither of us had the presence of mind to cancel the party, so everyone turned up to an empty house. All this was over 25 years ago. We can almost laugh about it now 😂

DS, was his 6th birthday, a few days before, both him and 6 month old DD came down with raging chickenpox.
Party was cancelled.
On the day though (before mobile phones) one child still turned up with a wrapped gift, all excited.
Lots of tears on the doorstep.
One month later, postponed party goes ahead, and the same kid who was crying on the step fell off the bouncy castle and broke his arm.
I felt so shitty about it for so long!
