Sitters / other child care websites

Has anyone used sitters the childcare website or similar? We have zero help with the kids and marriage is hanging on by a thread…would like to try and get a regular date night a couple times a month but I feel so nervous to leave them with someone I don’t know. They are 3 and 2 years old

As a childcare provider I have been on ChildcareCoUk for many years and have had many evening babysitting, occasional daytime temp nanny and some permanent nanny roles though the site.

What I like about that site is that you can arrange to meet before agreeing to do the babysit. Agency type services like Sitters, Bubble don't seem to have that pre-meet, so you and your children do not meet the sitter beforehand.

You could try asking local childminders if they do babysitting, many do & obviously fully registered/DBS/PVG etc.

Found babysitters on that when couldn't use family and friends. You can find nursery workers and student health care workers who are enhanced DBS checked. They will generally tell you about where they are working/studying.

Unfortunately lots of listings don't have full details of the person for good reasons so you need to ask them for information. So if someone doesn't have a DBS then you simply tell them you aren't interested or more tactfully say contact me when your clearance comes through, then move on to the next person.

Btw nurseries as well as CMs also advertise on the site.

We used to use Sitters- always had good people. Used to use for occasional daytime care as well and always had the same sitter who would take DS to playgroups etc. Still in contact with her a good few years later.
