How to drop 10 month old day breastfeeds?

My 10 month old is now eating 3 meals a day (but can be hit or miss whether he eats it or throws it on the floor). But he still breastfeeds around 6 times a day. On wake, before and after his 2 naps and before bed. However, he doesn’t always ask for these, it’s more often that I offer them (used to have weight concerns). He will be starting nursery at 12 months so I feel like I should try and reduce these feeds to perhaps 4? So that nursery only has to give him milk before each nap?

Is this the right thing to do? Should I be offering snacks instead or should I just stop offering and wait and see when he naturally “demands”?

DD started nursery at 10 months a full on boobie monster. I had brought an expensive pump and spent months building up a stash for her to take in a cup at nursery and she always refused it! She just ate her meals and snacks fine. She would have a feed as soon as she came home and just adjusted. She still fed during the day at weekends.
I gradually reduced pumping over two weeks during the day and my supply adjusted fine,

If he doesn't ask for the after nap feeds I'd start by not offering these and seeing what happens! Mine is 8 months and usually has 4 feeds a day - wake up, before naps and bedtime. I don't even know if she needs the ones before the naps I just do it as I know it will settle her to sleep 😂

My 20 month old still breastfeeds whenever he wants to and it can be anywhere between 4 - 10ish times a day depending what we’re doing and how busy/distracted he is. He doesn’t go to nursery but we were put yesterday and he didn’t feed from about 11-6:30ish then had a few when we got home 🤷‍♀️
