Please share your wisdom! My nearly three year old DD has been toilet trained for about three months now. She took to it really well and we had no problems at all. However in the last couple of weeks she has started to poo in her knickers every day.
We've tried everything - rewards, bribery, prompting/reminding and even getting cross! She knows she's wrong, as when you tell her she musn't do it she gets upset.
What do we do now?! Can't go on like this!
Thanks

Firstly, does she do it at the same time? If so, you could just plonk her on the potty/toilet at that time and tell her not to budge since she's done her poo.

Secondly, is anything bothering her that would make her regress? Has she started nursery or anything?

Thanks for replying......unfortunately not the same time each day. Usually once in the morning and again at some point in the afternoon.
She does go to nursery but been there since six months old. I just can't work out why she's regressed, but feel we've gone too far down the line to go back to nappies?

I know what you mean - I don't think it would be a good thing to go back to nappies, but you can't carry on as you are either.

It may be worth having a word with your HV to see if she has any ideas?

Hopefully someone on here will come along with better advice than me. I think cod's the potty training expert...

I think you have gone too far now to go back to nappies. Have you tried no reaction at all? Just change her knickers and don't say anything?

Maybe choose her some new knickers with her favourite character on for weeing on the toilet like a big girl. She may feel less inclined to poo in those.

I ended up doing all you have done, then the new pants bit (this was for ds1) then I downright refused to let him wear pants so that he would have to poo on the toilet or potty chair. He used to ask me for a nappy though because he didn't want to poo in his new pants, it worked for me but it does depend on your child.

BTW sticker charts, rewards etc never worked for my son.
