Return of the tantrum #2

Didn't receive any responses when I posted elsewhere earlier so am seeking advice here ☺️

My 2.5 year old DS has been at nursery since he was 9 months old. Almost every day he would cry at drop off which was hard but the girls always said he was fine within seconds of me leaving.

He got moved up to the big toddlers room a couple of months ago and he completely stopped crying. He would run off, grab some toys and say 'bye mummy'.

I've noticed over the last week however, he's become quite clingy to me. Always favouring I do things for him over his dad. Since then, he's been extremely difficult to drop off. His behaviour in the mornings getting ready has been lovely and we'll chat all the way to nursery. As soon as he gets there though, he screams, clings on to me and tries to hit the girls when they take him off me.

I'm hoping rather than some sort of regression, it's more that the bank holidays have messed with him a bit. Wonder if anyone has experienced something similar or has any ideas?

Yeah probably just out of sync. My little boy had a phase of this too, it's really hard isn't it.
If they do tapestry updates then I found it useful showing my son the photos/videos to get him excited about going, so he remembers how much fun he has.
Also does he have breakfast there? I take him cereal and try to use that as a distraction as well.
Can the staff support you in anyway? At my nursery they sat down with him and drew a picture about things he likes about nursery/things he doesn't like to try and pick up any issues
