Three year old is a terrible eater

I don’t know what went wrong! He used to eat everything I gave him when he was younger.

Nursery tell me that he is an amazing eater, always willing to try new things and often asks for seconds. That is not my child!

Despite this, I keep offering different foods every day, but usually end up giving in and making him his requested hummus sandwich or pasta pesto. Anything other than that and we are lucky if he eats a couple of spoonfuls. Always happy to have pudding though!

Will it pass? Is it a phase?

Do not know if this is any help - we do a plate of food and then DS has the option to remove 1 or 2 items but must eat the rest. He is reminded that he can choose to not eat his tea but he will not have anything else to eat before the morning.

This is going to sound silly but sometimes we pretend we can hear the food talking about how excited it is to live in his tummy. We do not praise for eating vegetables because you do not praise for eating chocolate. The nearest we go is asking where did x go and then DS normally says in my tummy with a grin.

I try not to make meal times a battle and instead just sit there as a family eating

Sending hugs
