Hi all

Really silly question, but can you give me an example of what a nearly 3 year olds back and forth conversation should be like at this stage? Thank you ☺️

I have no idea sorry, I have one who could have full discussions with you and another who didn't really say much at that age.

How close to 3 are they?

MamaAl27 · 05/05/2023 16:23

He is 3 next month.
He asks what is that, responds to where do you want to go, what have you done today, responds to who is that, tells us what he is doing or what we are doing. Answers yes or no to things, tells us what he wants. But not really conversational at this point. I’m just unsure what they mean about back and forth conversation, what I’m describing is that classed as back and forth?

Does he ask questions? I'd say that's a key part of a two-way conversation - not just answering questions but asking them.

He will ask what’s that and where is someone when they have gone out of view but not much beyond that. He is slightly speech delayed due to glue ear, but was just trying to gauge where he should be.

And if we are leaving somewhere he will say to me “mummy can you say bye bye to xxx” 😂

Sounds fine to me
