Would you let your DC miss swimming lesson?

DC is tired, couldn't get to sleep until 10.30 after a long day with family - it ended at 7 so enough time to get to bed but couldn't sleep. DC woke up this morning and said they didn't want to go to school, body hurting after a long day playing, climbing, etc. Obviously went to school but has asked to miss swimming lesson that's straight after school.

I say yes. DH says DC missed loads due to winter sicknesses and wants DC to go.

WWYD?

I’d let them skip as long as they’ll definitely go next week.

No. Send him - how old is he? Older than 5-6 yes old then he'll manage.
Instill a work ethic, not 'well you've signed up for if but you don't have to go if you've spent the day before playing'.

I'd reasses after school. Everything looks catastrophic when you wake up tired. I'd probably give them some sweets and tell them to get on with it if not desperately exhausted.

How old is your child? If above about the age of 8, I'd say they have to go.
They'll only be swimming for about 30 mins to an hours and then they can have tea and get an early night.

@Helpwhatwouldyoudonext 5 but yes I can definitely see that logic.

Maybe a carton of juice will help on this occasion.

Yes I'd agree that you should reassess when they get home, When I wake up tired, I could cancel everything for the whole day, but actually, after an hour or so I feel much better, DC might be the same...

If they already missed loads I’d give a sugary snack and have them go.

I let mine skip swim lessons on the weeks I can see they are tired or under the weather. I do have to check to make sure we are going to a good amount though. Life is just busy and some weeks they need the extra time to relax.
