Periods

Dd is 11 and started periods 18 months ago. She’s struggling at school primarily because some of the “problem kids” hang out in the toilets during break and often during lessons bunking off. This makes her self-conscious when changing pads as the packaging makes a noise. I’m wondering about period pants. Is there a brand you would recommend? Can they last a whole school day? Do you just was them as normal with other laundry? Am out if the loop as my periods stopped some time ago (long story). Am grateful for any advice.

DD started with the teen range from ModiBodi. They lasted a school day but I don't think her periods are they heavy.

Oh and the Preteens section might have a couple of threads on this if you have a look in there Wink

As PP said, you can try a modibodi in the teen range. They come in a variety of flow (light/heavy etc) and do different styles of pants (boy shorts, bikini style) and they also do one that is specifically targeted for under school uniform wear:

You'll need to wash them before the first use and then she'll be good to go.

In terms of washing, they'll need to be rinsed in cold water until the water runs clear and then pop them in a delicates bag & into the machine - they do recommend washing them in a delicates bag.

The website has instructions on how to look after them properly under every item.

They also do 10% off your first order.

I think M&S and Primark also sell pairs but I'm unsure of the quality!

Ask the school to help come up with a solution maybe she can leave the lesson a bit early and go and change her pad privately. Tell her class teacher and they will help.
Period pants haven’t worked that well with my daughter.

DD started with ModiBodi and now has Primark & Sainsbury's in her collection. Oth if these are fine for lighter days.

I suffer with awful periods and I swear by period knicker pants

Your DD wouldn't need to worry about leaking and she can just easily change them at break etc

I found pads now a days move around a lot when you move etc

Another short term solution or long term is the incontinant knockers in supermarkets ,now I know it's prompted for weak bladder however I used them for after birth and again great

So I'd say definitely try the period pants
