Hello
My 2yr old crying in pain when doing a poo. The poo is big and solid and I had to help pull it out of her this evening after her crying and struggling for 30mins! She is still pooping regular but it's a struggle for her.
Pharmacist couldn't help and sent me to urgent care. Looks like it's going to be a 4 hour plus wait.
Anything I can try at home for her? I tried prune juice.
Does this sound like constipation or something else?
She's fine in herself
Thanks in advance x

Have had this with my DC, it's almost as if the poo was too big for them physically. It happened fairly frequently without explanation.

We used Lactusoe I think it's called. We also tried lots of fruit in anticipation - Ella's kitchen prune pouches are good even though your kid is past these. We're now using Laxido regularly to keep things regular.

Sent too early... For now, you might have to don the rubber gloves and aid it, be careful incase the skin splits which might happens. Try to massage their tummy to help things move then give Calpol and lots of cuddles

Good luck!

You need to see the GP ASAP.

I had bad constipation for a while as a toddler, around age 3 and I remember crying while sitting on the toilet. My mum gave me lactulose (available over the counter) which helped massively and I'm using it again now that I'm pregnant and constipated! If this doesn't help then definitely get to the doctor

My son ALWAYS does a poo after a bath. I think the warm water plays a part. Might be worth a go!

AlviesMam · 29/04/2023 10:51

Yes been giving her regular warm baths!
Going to give the lactulose a go but still speak to gp next week.

I can always rely on Mumsnet to make me feel better , thanks again Smile
