So my son had fever yesterday morning around 38.5 I gave him nurofen and alternated between calpol and nurofen every 4-6 hours it goes down but comes back again. He is eating okay however drinking less than normal and that’s I guess he’s peeing less aswell. He’s not coughing or no runny nose etc. again he didn’t have fever in the afternoon after nurofen but it’s come back again. He is playing and behaving normally just a little bit tired than normal. Do I need to take him to gp or does it just sound like something viral?

I am not a medical professional but I would say keep an eye on the peeing and drinking, don't worry too much about the temperature just go by how he feels, and if you are worried call 111 or the GP.

@LadyGardenersQuestionTime

i spoke to the gp today and they told me it sounds like something viral if he’s not passing urine at all and not drinking at all then bring him back. At the moment he is drinking and peeing however is not as much as he normally does.. so will keep an eye on him he luckily has an appointment booked for tomorrow so might aswell take him to make sure x

I'm not usually one for giving sugar, but jelly is a good way to trick kids into having water

Could it be teething? This often happens to my DS when he is cutting a tooth and always has

@MrsHsGirl he does have his last molars that need to come out and he has been really irritated with them recently and his gums are hard it could be because of that aswell then maybe

No I wouldn’t say that warrants a Gp visit at this stage. Just offer something tempting - fruit juice, ice lollies, watery fruits and so on.

Just an update the fever has finally gone although he has a sore throat now but it doesn’t look to bad.
