Can baby ride in recline?

We have a newborn car seat that reclines so baby can be lying flat - is this a feature that is just for when they transition out of the car to the pram frame, or is it safe for the seat to be flat when we’re travelling?

It depends on the seat. The manual will tell you.

Yes it depends on the seat but most reclining ones have been tested to be safe for taking the baby on longer journeys and you usually anchor them differently in the car for lie-flat mode. Check your instruction manual for how to drive safely when the seat is reclined.
