Highchair tantrums

DD is 17mths. She has been at nursery since she was 14 months, and apparently is a very good eater there. She eats beautifully for her grandparents. Dinner times with us are becoming a bit of nightmare. At the moment, she sits in her highchair at the table with us, eating off the tray or from a bowl. She is just about mastering a fork and a spoon. Sometimes she will eat quite happily, but for the most part now she takes most food and throws it straight on the floor, or will swipe it around the tray with her hands before throwing on the floor. She will then usually scream in frustration at being strapped in before we give in and get her out. She will then toddle around the dining room, picking up bits of food she's hurled, and eat them. Clearly the highchair isn't working anymore. It's a tripp trapp one and she's in the baby set. She is very mobile and a rather too excellent climber, but probably a little bit too little to sit in the seat of the tripp trapp unaided. Her Dad thinks we should just get her a little table and chair so she can eat her tea with us but not be restricted by the highchair, but I don't like the idea of her eating separately too us away from the table. That said, this food throwing and swiping is driving me nuts. Any ideas or tips that worked for you?

I haven't experienced this yet, but what about a booster seat for the big table? You can get some that sit nice and high.
