Help with teething

My 6mo has a tooth just about popping through the gum. The gum has a black line where the tooth has cut it and I can feel the tooth. How long will he be in pain for? We are going on holiday on Saturday and I'm now wondering if I need to go out and buy teething stuff and pain relief en mass.

Also any teething tips are really welcome
First baby!

Aww. Usually once the tooth is through the gum they're happier, so if you can see the grey line today I'd say he'll be better by Friday. No guarantee though, and there might be another on the way!

Definitely take Calpol, infant Nurofen and teethers with you - mine loved the monkey.

My top tip is that if they're teething age and normally sleep well, but keep waking up crying for no apparent reason... it's most likely teeth, so just give Calpol. I spent so many nights up and down cuddling and agonising over whether to give it, until I figured that out.

We always found baby Neurofen to be much more effective than Calpol.

Also as PP said - Matchstick Monkey is great

Ohh great news that once it's through its a bit better I have my 🤞 for friday. I did think I can see the outline of the tooth next to it as well although it's not broken through so that makes sense.

Thank you everyone for the nurofen and matchstick monkey rec. I have nurofen but I've just 'Amazon'd' the matchstick monkey
